VAHRAM AGHASYAN. Post-revolutionary walk

11. September, 13:00

FEAR LESS HOPE – Ost-West-Dialoge

„The urban does not yet exist in its mature form; rather it is still partial, an occluded image of what it can become.“ – Henri Lefebvre, The Right to the City, 1968

Imagine waking up in a city that has just lived through an international revolution. Streets are the same – yet nothing is the same. Vahram Aghasyan invites participants of this street happening to walk together through a chosen part of the city, beginning from this fictional moment of change. Along the route, the group decides – collectively – what to keep, what to transform, and what to erase from the urban landscape. The walk becomes an act of shared authorship, where each voice reshapes the imagined city. The work is both a performative urban intervention, and discussion as a tool for collective re-imagination.

The urban is produced through collective action, dreaming, experimentation and struggle.

Vahram Aghasyan is a Yerevan-based artist, curator, and theorist with over thirty years of experience. He has exhibited extensively in prominent international venues, including the Tenth Istanbul Biennial, Museum Kiasma in Helsinki, Casino Luxembourg, the 51st Venice Biennale (Armenian Pavilion), and Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin. He has also undertaken artistic residencies in Istanbul, Luneburg, and Oslo. In the late 1990s, he was the art editor for „Garoun“ magazine and is a co-founder of the Surburb Art platform. Additionally, he is a founding member of the „commune“ space, which operated until 2018 as a hub for activism.
